Your Optimal Portfolio: NorthStar Ethical Income Portfolio
(Please Note: Your requirement for an ethically invested portfolio has been given precedence over your assessed investment risk level. This may mean that the risk level of the NorthStar Ethical Income Portfolio is in excess of your personal risk tolerance. We therefore recommend careful consideration be given to adding additional low-risk or cash investments to ensure the level of risk is appropriate for your needs. For more information, please contact us. This is a simplified risk assessment and is no substitute for an in-depth appraisal carried out by a NorthStar financial planner. A comprehensive risk assessment will take into account your investment objectives, current situation, investment experience and capacity for loss in addition to your attitude to risk assessed here. About the NorthStar Ethical Income Portfolio
The NorthStar Ethical Income Portfolio is suitable for investors who are seeking to invest ‘ethically’ and require a balance between income, capital growth and capital security. The portfolio is constructed using a broad range of income-producing assets which may include equities, fixed income, property, infrastructure, alternative investments and cash. The diversification of this portfolio will insulate investors from some short-term market volatility. Investments are predominantly held in assets that seek to promote ethical, sustainable and socially responsible causes and exclude companies that promote or produce tobacco, fossil fuels, arms, gambling, animal testing and similar activities. Equity content will typically be around 60%, meaning the portfolio will exhibit moderate downside risk to achieve the required level of capital growth and income.
Due to the nature of underlying holdings, investment in this portfolio should be seen as a long-term strategy. Risk aspects include inflation risk, capital risk, shortfall risk, and exchange rate risk. The portfolio targets a yield in excess of 3% plus capital growth in excess of 2-3% per annum over a rolling 5-year period and is benchmarked against the IA Mixed Investment 20-60% Shares sector average. Values may fall as well as rise and investors may not get back the amount originally invested.
